Application of 6063 Aluminum Sheet in Automotive Industry


6-series aluminum sheet, also known as aluminum-magnesium-silicon series. The most typical aluminum sheet in the 6-series is 6061 aluminum sheet and 6063 aluminum sheet. 6-series aluminum alloys account for over 70% of aluminum processing. Common states of 6063 aluminum sheet include O state, T4 state, T6 state, and T651 state. T651 alloy is formed by drawing on the basis of T6 state after eliminating internal stresses, and is more suitable for processing into 6063 aluminum sheet. This sheet is widely used in the fields of trucks, ships, trams, furniture, mechanical parts, and industrial components with strong strength, welding performance, and corrosion resistance.


Application of 6063 aluminum sheet in the automotive industry


6063 aluminum sheet can be used in many fields. In the automotive manufacturing industry, it can be processed and manufactured as vehicle body parts. It can also be used as material for tank truck bodies. 6063 aluminum sheet can reduce automobile fuel consumption and provide a way to achieve energy-saving and emission reduction goals. Currently, aluminum alloy bodies are widely used in the automotive manufacturing industry, and now some mid-to-low-end cars also have applications of 6063 aluminium sheet. 6063 aluminium sheet is a high-magnesium aluminum alloy with high strength, good corrosion resistance, and good processing performance. With the continuous development of the automotive industry, the application performance advantages of 6063 aluminum sheet in the automotive industry will become more and more obvious.


Application of 6063 aluminum sheet in the construction industry


The construction industry is a high-safety industry. For aluminum doors and windows, curtain wall frames, they not only require high-safety factors, but also require some performance such as wind pressure resistance, assembly, and corrosion resistance. For the satisfaction of these performances, 6063 aluminum sheet is very suitable. The following 6063 aluminium sheet manufacturers will introduce the application of 6063 aluminum sheet in the construction industry. 6063 aluminum sheet has good extrusion performance and can be suitable for complex profile shapes. It has good corrosion resistance and surface treatment performance. As a high-plasticity alloy, 6063 aluminium sheet has the following characteristics:


  • 6063 aluminum sheet has good heat treatment strengthening and high impact toughness. It is not sensitive to notches.


  • 6063 aluminium sheet has good thermal plasticity and can extrude thin-walled or hollow aluminum materials and forgings with complex structures at high speeds. The applicable range above the quenching temperature is relatively wide, but the sensitivity is low. If the temperature in the extrusion or forging demoulding process is higher than the quenching temperature, quenching operation can be carried out by using water spraying or penetrating water method. In addition, thin-walled parts can also be air-quenched.


  • 6063 aluminum sheet has good welding performance and corrosion resistance, and has no tendency to stress corrosion cracking.


  • After processing, 6063 aluminium sheet can be easily anodized and colored. The surface can be very smooth. However, if it is parked at room temperature for a long time after quenching, it will have an adverse effect on the strength of the aluminum sheet.
